Alaska Botanical Garden Verna Pratt Wildflower
Trail: Each spring, club
members rejuvenate the Wildflower trail at ABG.
Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center: In late May, WGCA and other local garden club
members refresh the Native Plant Garden at AWCC.
Children’s Marigold Giveaway: Children are invited to transplant a marigold
seedling at the Annual Midtown Mall Spring Garden Show. Members provide the seedlings and expertise.
Annual WGCA Plant Sale: Hardy, Annual, and hard-to-find plants,
locally grown by club members, are available to the public. Funds raised are used to achieve the club’s
stated objectives. For information on

Alaska State Fair Junior Giant Zucchini Contest: Each year, the Club sponsors a largest Zucchini contest in the Crops Department for children ages 6-12 and 13-17. Prizes are awarded to those entries with the heaviest weights.
Alaska State Fair Perennial/Biennial Special Award: The WGCA
sponsors a special Division Champion Award for Perennial/Biennial entries in
the Flowers Department. For this year’s
Fair entry dates, refer to the Calendar of Events.
Flower Show Judge Training School: Up to four (4) members are sponsored as
participants in this ongoing training program.
WGCA Grant Program: The club offers a variety of grant opportunities. With a goal to encourage botanical education, the club may fund scholarly studies, scientific research projects, or work in the areas of Horticulture, Floriculture, Landscape Design, Forestry, Botany, Agronomy, Plant Pathology, and/or allied subjects.
